BitDefender is the safest and the fastest by signature updates to detect new Viruses. Follow by F-Secure and Avast while the false positive detection is in Avast higher. Most worse case Nod Eset after submitting a virus sample 5 Days are gone without a response.

Kaspersky is good in false positive but only rarely include Adbundler Malware such as the new Buzy (50% detection of different variations) spreading in eMule Network.

    Avast ist nicht zu empfehlen, weil dieses proggi derart hohe prozzispitzen verursacht, das der rechner nur noch als heizung dient. arbeiten kann man mit dem rechner spätestens nach 2 tagen nicht mehr.

    das hinterhältige daran ist, im taskmanager kann man nicht erkennen, das avast den fehler verursacht, weil nur bei emule diese spitzen angezeigt werden.

    Würde nicht unbedingt die neuesten letzten AV Scanner Versionen nehmen diese sind meist 'aufgebläht' oder bloated wie man sagt. Hatte mal Avast 4.8 mit ner OEM Lic. drauf, war nicht schlecht. Guck mal auf Virustotal.com die scanner versionen dort. Meist veraltert jedoch mit den neuesten Signaturen bieten sie Schutz wie aktuelle Versionen. Wie Du schon sagst mitunter Ressourcen und Speicherfresser. Bei BitDefender von version 7.2 bis 2011 sind rund 200 MB Unterschied an Grösse dazwischen.
