Fix 100% CPU Load svchost.exe (Windows XP SP3)

Fixing the memory leak in WinXP SP3 SVCHOST.EXE 100% CPU Usage by system start.


SVCHOST.EXE (see in Process Explorer) Freeze 3 to 7 Minutes - no system response by:

- Internet Connect Dial in
- Connection Software Medion Verbindungsassistent (Huawei Webstick Connection Manager) / Join Air 1&1 (ZTE Internet Surf Stick)
- ADSL DLink Router/Modem,...
- and others...

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe (5.1.2600.5512) Since service Pack 3 may freeze for several minutes by system or internet application start.

How I fixed it:

Remove from SVCHOST Network Service DnsCache

Start, Run, type in Regedit:
Go to:
HKLM (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE)\
SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SvcHost
Deleting the Value "NetworkService = DnsCache"

Reboot

If you have several times reconnect on different USB Ports Websticks, you may disconnect the usb devices and clean/delete all redundant USB Entries of the same devices with USBDeview from Nirsoft.net

Uninstall the software for Surfstick/Webstick

Reboot

Install the latest Drivers/Software after connecting the actual Surfstick.


Result: computer start within seconds again and internet is immediately ready to connect, which took more than 5 minutes before.

This method describe to disable DNSCatche responsible for large hosts files with many entries.

    Hi there. I have a problem and I am not sure if that method is really the right fix. Please help me out. Here's the problem.

    Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

    Then there are options to do: Debug ; Send Error Report ; Don't Send.

    When I click Debug what happens next is the screen goes back to Windows Classic (the taskbar turns gray).

    When I click Don't Send the screen freezes, nothing happens.

    When I click Send Error Report after a few minutes another message will appear. The message is like this:

    svchost-1620: svchost.exe - Application Error

    The instruction at "0x7c922235" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

    By the way here's the Error Signature.

Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2012 review and 6 Licenses + 1x Internet Security and a BitDefender Total Security License each 1 Year to GiveAway

We take our hands on the new Bitdefender Antivirus 2012 Plus and installed the 64 bit Version on Windows 7. The Download Files of the possible final version are under a subfolder ' intern ' to found. BitDefender 2012 installed fast in a matter of a few minutes. A system restart is not required. After a system scan all virus samples were detected but also some false positives shown up incl. Nirsoft Programs and others, old exe packers inclusive. Some productivity software applications refused to work if Bitdefender 2012 is installed which is not so nice! More Application compatibility errors by the 'intern' download build 15.0.27.305 by many programs which seems to be worse as in Bitdefender 2011.
